Steps, Support & Patient Journey
The patient journey is built around comprehensive support for the couple throughout the entire ART process.
Each stage — from the first consultation to the pregnancy test — is experienced together, ensuring holistic, consistent, and fully personalized care at every step of your fertility journey.

1.First
Medical Consultation
Your journey begins with a consultation with a fertility specialist. During this first visit, the physician will assess the duration of infertility, your personal medical history, and all previously completed examinations. This comprehensive evaluation allows for an accurate diagnosis and the definition of the most appropriate care plan before initiating any ART procedure.
Recommended Tests for Women :
- Hormonal analyses and infectious disease screening
- Pelvic ultrasound with antral follicle count
- Hysterosalpingography, if necessary
Recommended Tests for Men :
- Semen analysis and sperm morphology assessment (spermogram and spermocytogram)
- Hormonal profile and infectious disease screening
- Sperm migration-survival test
- Semen culture

2. Ovarian Stimulation
Ovarian stimulation aims to promote the simultaneous development of several follicles within the ovaries. Each follicle is a small fluid-filled structure containing a maturing oocyte.
The stimulation protocol is selected according to your ovarian reserve. It is based on the daily administration of hormonal treatment, most often in the form of injections using a prefilled pen. These injections can be self-administered or, if you prefer, performed by a home nurse.
When the follicles reach the required size, a single injection is scheduled to trigger ovulation. The exact timing is communicated to you on the same day to ensure optimal synchronization.
Approximately 36 hours after this injection, oocyte retrieval is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. Using a gentle aspiration system, the oocytes are collected directly from within the follicles. This precise and controlled procedure is a key step in the IVF process, carried out under strict medical and safety standards.

3.Reception
On the Day of the Procedure

Oocyte Retrieval and Laboratory Care
Oocyte retrieval allows the collection of follicular fluid containing the oocytes. It is performed in the operating room of the fertility center under light sedation and generally lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. This procedure is safe, precise, and minimally invasive. Immediately after retrieval, the oocytes are transferred to the laboratory, where they are identified, assessed, and prepared for fertilization under strict quality and safety standards.

Semen Collection
The partner is first welcomed by the laboratory reception staff and then accompanied to the dedicated semen collection room, designed to ensure comfort, privacy, and compliance with all conditions required for the proper conduct of the procedure.

Fertilization of Gametes in the Laboratory After oocyte retrieval and semen collection, the laboratory applies the fertilization technique best suited to your situation. The goal is to promote the creation of embryos under optimal conditions of quality and safety, in accordance with the highest standards of assisted reproductive medicine.

4. Post-Retrieval Follow-Up
After the procedure, you will be taken to the recovery room to rest in complete safety. The medical team will remain present to ensure your comfort and will inform you of the planned time for your discharge.
Discharge Formalities
Before leaving the center, you will be asked to visit the ART reception desk to complete the discharge formalities with the coordinator, including the delivery of your prescription. You may then leave the clinic, ideally accompanied by a trusted person.

5.EMBRYO TRANSFER
FROM DAY 2 TO DAY 5
The day before the transfer
You will be contacted by the fertility center coordinator to organize your visit and provide you with all the necessary information.
On the day of the transfer
Embryo transfer consists of placing one or two embryos into the uterine cavity using a soft catheter. The embryos transferred are those that have continued to develop in the laboratory between Day 2 (D+2) and Day 5 (D+5), in accordance with good practice recommendations (ESHRE, 2023). The number of embryos transferred depends on several factors :
- Patient’s age,
- Number of previous treatment attempts,
- Morphological quality of the embryos,
- Total number of embryos obtained.
The goal is to optimize the chances of pregnancy while limiting the risk of multiple pregnancy (ESHRE, 2023). The procedure is painless and does not require hospitalization.
Surplus embryos
Good-quality embryos that are not transferred are vitrified, in accordance with international recommendations (ESHRE, 2023). They may be used later in the event of no pregnancy or as part of a new parental project.

6.PREGNANCY TEST
The pregnancy test must be carried out in a medical analysis laboratory. The results are sent to your physician as well as to the ART laboratory.
If the result is positive, a second blood test is required 48 hours later in order to confirm the progression of the β-hCG level.
